Setting out to improve the traditional jean, we looked for a fabric that was 1) even tougher than denim, 2) comfortable, and 3) looked just as good. We found 13-oz. Fire Hose; cotton canvas, a tightly-woven, incredibly durable yet flexible fabric used until recently to cover rubber fire hoses. Fire Hose; 5-pocket Jeans have the traditional look and styling of jeans, with the rugged character and performance of canvas and all the features of our regular 5-pocket jeans. Stain and water resistant, so you can wear them on the dirtiest jobs - the kind that always get thrown at you!

My brother-in-law recommended Duluth, gave me a jacket as a gift, wears the fire hose 5 pocket jeans. I started with them and can't get enough. Use them for work and casual times. The most comfortable pants I have and I finally have a way to keep my cell phone with me without damage. I recommend these to everyone, started my brother and nephew with the company.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

pants are super tough. I have been using them to hunt in on the prairie of South Dakota and they have shown resilience to cactus, crawling through mud and rock. These pants are not binding or constricting(the extra fabric in the crotch is the reason for this). The only negative comment I have about the pants is that it seems as though the length has shrunken a bit. Other than that these pants have been wonderful. Would recommend to anyone.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I always get cold around the house in the winter and wanted a warmer pair of pants I could wear inside and out. I picked up the fleece lined fire hose jeans and I love them! They have to be one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever worn. They are also extremely warm even outdoors. Only complaint would be I think the waist size is a little small so I would go a size up when you order. Also I wish they sold the jeans one size taller in a 36x36 (34 is the tallest inseam). Unfortunately I cannot speak to the durability yet as I haven't gotten a chance to use them outdoors much. Great products have ordered the fleece lined fire hose shirt to match!

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was great. Had to return the first pair and go a size up. The return process was a little slow but got everything in the end. Great products!

Use these pants when doing yard work, or working out on the farm. They take all the abuse that I've been able to throw at them and shrug it off. The biggest plus is that they are guaranteed forever!
This is the second time I've ordered these pants. Note to future buyers, they run long in the inseam. This time I ordered 2 inches shorter than I regularly get and they were just perfect. Just keep in mind that they run a little long. Otherwise, zero complaints.

This has been said over & over again but its true. THESE PANTS ARE TOUGH. And they are surprisingly comfortable after washing. They seem to get better the more they are used and washed. The fire hose material is a total winner!

I first bought them after reading about guys dumping their motorcycles and escaping with no road rash because of these pants. That's impressive! I didn't really expect them to be comfortable too. Well, they are and I am a believer. Get a pair.

After trying 3 or 4 types of DT pants, I have bought an entire new wardrobe of these fire hose jeans, fire hose work pants, DT 5 pocket jeans, and mid-weight work pants. I'm giving up my old jeans from a couple famous makers. I'll burn the ones too worn to donate to charity, and donate the rest.
The fire hose jeans are my favorites of the bunch, followed by fire hose work pants and 5 pocket black denim jeans. The mid weight work pants are great for hotter weather, but I like the others so well, I wear them all regardless of temperature.

These pants are tough, I beat them up pretty good in the yard and they took it well. I wear my pants a little long because I don't like "high waters", but these pants are a bit too long; I think that it's due to the gusset, But the Comfort! Yeah. The next order will be for the next length down.

I wear 33/32, and I bought these pants in 33/32 and they fit fine at the waist, but for a 5'9" 155 lb guy there are a bit long and there is just way too much material below the knee. I was hoping for a slimmer fit, which these are not. They look fine in work or hiking boots, but they seem super baggy in just regular shoes.

I get a year, at most, out of the Levis 501's I've been wearing since grade school. Torn out knees, back pockets, and the crotch/seat usually consign them to the trash by that point. Not these fire hose pants. A year old and only a little threadbare on the right knee, these are the most durable and comfortable pants I own. They've survived everything from roofing in July to skateboard crashes. My favorite.

I really like all the stitching and the weight of these pants. They seem very durable too.

The thing I really don't like about these is that they are too skinny. The crotch gusset helps, but overall I would say they are rather uncomfortable. Also, I drive quite a bit for my job. As such, I really don't like having my wallet in my back pocket--which means my front pockets are pretty cramped.

I was looking for rugged khakis that i could wear to my office job w/ a collared shirt but that would also stand up to repeated washings, unscheduled gardening, dog-attacks (i live with three of em), and Georgia red clay. These hose pants do the trick. they aren't as heavy as i imagined, and in fact feel no more coarse than my Levis. But they're obviously well-constructed and seem to be dirt-proof. I'm currently traveling abroad for work, and have worn these just about every day -- i didn't need to pack anything else. i intend to buy a pair in every color. Much better deal than jeans. A+

I purchased fire hose 5 pocket jeans because they're hard-working and are easy to dress up. Recently I spent a morning doing yard work wearing a pair of fire hose 5 pocket jeans, and because I had a couple hours to kill, wore them steelhead fishing and later kept them on when I delivered my wife into the lobby of her tennis club. It's quick and easy to knock the dirt off 'em, they look much better and can be worn more places than traditional blue jeans.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

The deep pockets on these are great, and the firehose pocket lining is a smart design. These have a tighter weave than the also sturdy fire hose work pants. I suggest a synthetic blend fabric (for wet weather use) as well as more color options would make these even better. I have all three colors.

These pants look and fit better than regular denim jeans. They don't bag in the butt, which delights the wife, and they come in colors, which look dressier for church and whatnot. My motorcycling friends ask where I got 'em, which is a little odd, but I tell them "Butch Peterman's" catalog.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I purchased the FH Jeans as well as the lightweight denim jeans primarily for motorcycle riding, due to the gusseted crotch as well as the heavy weight FH material.

Both function perfectly as intended when purchased; I wear the FH pants on warmer days or when I don't feel like wearing the proper protective overpants (I know, "bad!") and the lightweight jeans under the overpants (as they are thinner).

I've found that both of them also work well in the office; I spend most of my day sitting at a desk, so having the extra room makes that chore more comfortable as well.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I bought these pants for commuting to work on my motorcycle. The legs are loose enough so I can slip a pair of knee guards under, but the pants aren't ridiculously baggy. I wanted better protection than denim jeans, but didn't like all the slippery nylon (and hot!) motorcycle-specific pants. When I get to work I can just slip the knee guards out and I'm ready to go. Plus, my wife says they look good!

Firehouse is tough. The dark brown color makes these look just a little like casual slacks rather than bluejeans. I've worn them for yard work, to family gatherings, and even for teaching on fieldtrip days. They were a little warm on a sunny 70 degree pond study day though.

These pants are not only rugged enough for work, but they will protect you in comfort when playtime meets adventure. The rugged firehose material provides incombarably greater protection than your bluejeans could muster, whether the "danger" you face is a minor spill on your motorcycle, thorns in the bush, or rocks in the cave. And they will do it all without feeling bulky, stiff or hot. Forget the kevlar pants costing twice the price. Go with this comfortable breathable natural fiber pant, tailored for comfort, and built to take whatever comes your way.

Awesome work pants. Excellent for durability and protection. I happened to have them on when I was in a nasty car accident and my legs were unscathed, and I still wear the pants today. The fabric is heavy, but the pants still allow a lot of movement and aren't very restricting. Well done I say.

He wears them to work. He wears them at home doing work on our farm. The knees did give out abit. But, for some one who wears them everyday all, climbing around. they have been great. Great product. Fair pricing, the money is worth it. Thanks Stefanie

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I bought these pants after reading a review from a fellow motorcycle rider who had the misfortune to drop his bike while wearing a pair of these. He was impressed by the abrasion resistance they exhibited. I purchased two pair of these pants and when they arrived was very impressed with the feel of the material and the surprising lack of stiffness. My complaint with these pants is only with the fastener. It is very cheap and poor quality. Both pairs had the fastener fail the first time I tried them on (Yes I ordered the correct size). I complained to Duluth Trading but they made no effort to rectify the situation. I ended up purchasing fasteners locally and installing them myself. I would consider purchasing these pants again as the balance of the construction is top notch however I will not do business with a company the advertises quality products and customer service but fails to rectify a poor quality complaint.

I have a large city lot to maintain, and these Fire Hose jeans stand up to crawling around in the dirt and the abrasive work of trimming trees and bucking limbs and tree trunks. These pants shed dirt & grime well with regular washing and come back ready for more abuse. The only problem I had with these jeans was that the inseam was longer than described, and had to have my wife shorten them by a few inches. I love the DTC Fire Hose fabric products!

I wear these wonderful jeans daily.
I commute by motorcycle 48 miles daily (I teach at a local community college).
I bought these jeans for 4 reasons: 1) They will not tear if I have to dump the bike, 2) They look good (I cannot teach in "blue jeans" - these are not blue 3) They don't shrink or color fade 4) and my wife tells me that they are the best made pants I own, bar none as all seams are triple stitched, the cuffs are finished on the inside of the legs, they have an extremely well made zipper and pockets, and are made of great fabric.

I have 3 pairs and would have more if they came in more colors.

The fist jeans I ordered were the 5 pocket fleece lined firehose jeans and I liked them so much I bought 3 pairs of these.

These pants are the first I have ever owned that are comfortable enough to wear for 14 hours in coach class and yet rugged enough to stand up to abuse in the Great Outdoors. ...And they just don't seem to get dirty, either. Great fit and all-purpose styling. Thanks!

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

Fire hose 5-pockets have done it all for me, From U.S. NE coast to SW coast they have stood the test of time, hard trails and hard work. You simply can't beat them for durability without getting kevlar pants!
My fire hose pants have skidded down rock and gravel mountainsides across the US and I got no complaints or even a tear to complain about.
One downside, if I have to criticize something...their toughness leaves them lacking in high humidity/heat conditions. And that's it.
if you live on the edge, these pants will give you many years of service.

I originally purchased the Fire Hose jeans for my son to wear while riding his motorcycle. This was based on a sales piece in one of the catalogs about someone that bit the road and the jeans saved them from a bad case of road rash. After he got the first set he started wearing them all the time because they fit him so well. I feel better that he has some riding protection and he has some good jeans to wear. What a deal!

I bought these pants, specifically for motorcycle riding and hunting in heavy brush and thickets. Haven't laid my bike down yet,(thank God) but I have busted through some very heavily thorned thickets and they have never allowed one thorn to pierce through. THESE ARE AWESOME JEANS

The Firehose jeans are great. I am clearing a wooded area full of briars and brush. My normal jeans were torn to shreds, along with my legs, with my regular jeans, but not with these. Now I can wade right into the middle of the patch and the briars do not stand a chance. As a side note, I find all the products I have purchased from Duluth for myself and for family and friends to be of outstanding quality and value. Thanks, keep coming up with new ideas.

I do many different things. I need tough pants for a lot of kneeling when I do plumbing & repairs in my shops, when I am target shooting, etc. I was happily surprised at how comfortable the pants are, with such heavy weight material. I suppose you could say they are what I was hoping for, not what I was expecting. The pants also seem to be the actual size advertised, which is certaily the expection in these days of production in random countries. Nice enough that I have been wearing them for general casual use. Glad I bought them.

I wasn't sure I would like them when my wife bought them because they looked stiff when they arrived. But nothing is further from the truth. I wear them to work building our barn and they have been leg savers as I walk through briar filling my deer feeders and checking on buzzard nests (yes, buzzards have nests). I have already asked for another pair for Fathers Day.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I would get out of denim blue jeans ("Real French denim my favorite, but you have to have them custom made.) maybe 6-10 times a year for funerals, weddings, and if I met a woman that I thought dress-wear was appropriate for the first encounter. My only other experience with canvas pants was with the "big brown stiff canvas company" for one day only in the oil fields (for free from company and I hated them, stiff and sand-papery). I also own some expensive waxed cotton canvas-wear from an old gold field outfitter for extreme weather.

I gave this weave a chance, fence season is starting and yesterday I walked right through dormant blackberry canes and sap-rising multiflora rose. It tugged at me some, but not bad. To my amazement it shed the thorns I had pulled off the plants in passing w/out my realizing they had ever been there - if they did get stuck at all - I DON'T KNOW! Ask a rancher if that even sounds possible unless you're wearing the waxed expensive Yukon era pants and they walk you with sweat for a lubricant. They're ok if you're in a blizzard with a sick calf. I was as comfortable on fence as if in a well-broken in pair of denims and these brown Duluth's have been washed only once by me. I have no problem napping in them. Anybody want a great naturally gaited Tennessee Walker or dozen?

I bought these hoping they'd make good bird hunting pants. Season hasn't come yet but I just know they will ! These things are rugged enough for any upland hunting.
I put them on to "break them in" around the house. Guess what... They don't need breaking in- they are Super Comfortable. Heck, I wear them as Khakis or Chinos- they take a press very well.

I have Zero complaints; they wear well, wash well, look good and are as tough as you'd want. They don't stretch out, get saggy; they just feel and look good.

Duluth, just don't raise the price !

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I liked these jeans so much, I just ordered another pair. They are incredibly tough, but not "stiff" or bulky. I envision getting a LOT of use out of them.
My only nit, and this applies to all of Duluths jeans, is that I had to shorten them about 1/2" to keep them from dragging. I typically don't have to do this with jeans of the same size from others.
All in all, however, very fine jeans. Don't pass this up.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose 5-pocket Jeans:

I bought these pants after ripping out three pairs of other jeans while re-roofing a hundred year old barn. I slipped on the roof and slid down a few feet of nail heads. I only managed to rip off part of the rear pockets and popped two small holes in the seat. I replaced them with another pair and have been wearing them for two years while working on projects or hunting. They even keep the tough briars from popping holes in my legs tromping through the brush.
