Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

Pockets are in all the exactly right location. I can find my tools, including PDA and cellphone, without looking. Working in a datacenter or telecom closet, the weight to keep warm and the pockets for tools is unmatched in any other pants. I am not worried the pants will be damaged by the equipment or concrete floor. Still not quite sure where to clip keys on a swivel eye bolt snap.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

These pants are good qaulity stuff.
I purchased them thinking they would hold up the the brambles and so forth that I encounter while hiking and they do that well.
My only issue is that anything I place in the cargo pockets ends up banging off my knees while walking. I suspect the problem is that the cargo pockets are placed low to accomodate the slash opening side pockets. I'd highly recomend the regular firehose jeans over the cargo style pants

Over all very pleased with the pants, I own two pairs. The only issue I had (which is why I didn't give a fifth star), was the inside button for the french fly came off within three days on both pairs of pants. Not a huge issue and an easy fix, but annoying.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I've purchased 2 pair so far. (More to come) For the most part I've worn them exclusively and I must say I'm impressed. Great for holding tools doing electrical or mechanic work. Pockets are well thought out, need more room, tuck in the top flap of the front, and load 'em up. Very comfortable, actually can move in them without fear of tearing out inseam etc. Not so binding. I've also worn them riding both 4 wheelers and dirt bikes and they've taken some fair abuse without a hitch. Excellent pant, the test continues....

- the tool loops could be a little larger

zipper fly too short for easy use.

Waist size more realistic than my previous brands; had to exchange for larger "stated" size.

Exchange process was as easy as Duluth says it is.

Have only worn these a couple of days in very casual use; very comfortable; all those added pockets came in handy at least once.

I use these pants at work as a commercial boat captain in NY Harbor. The firehose material is tough as nails yet comfortable. The crotch gusset makes even the long 18-hour days a snap, especially when bending or climbing or sitting at the helm.
Please make a mid-weight 8 oz. version in black with flapped rear pockets (more of a khaki chino look). Everyone at my company would buy multiple pairs!!!

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I really love these pants. They are far superior to other work pants, in every way. They're comfortable, long lasting, and tough as nails. I worked trail crew this summer and by the end of the summer my OTHER "work pants" had so many holes you could see through them and so much sap and dirt stuck to the legs they stood up on their own. But these pants are proving to be true competitors to anything I have come across, they feel and work great, I would recommend these to anybody who does hard quality work.

I use these at my work and I need the F.O.M that they provide. They also need to be very tough since I get cought sqeezing between pallets. I also utilize the pockets when I do things with my kids and they are tired of carrying something. My only concern is the price. They are certainly worth it but they are hard on my budget.

I bought these to ride my touring scooter. They're more comfortable than any pair of pants I've ever owned, and the pockets are highly functional. I no longer feel like all the stuff I carry is bouncing around and hitting each other in a big pocket, like I've experienced with other cargo pants. The fit is great -- these pants give me the capacity to carry a lot of stuff without looking baggy or bulky and the pockets don't balloon outwards like other cargo pants I've owned. Fantastic product -- so good I've retired all my other motorcycle pants.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

The durable fire-hose material stands up to the constant climbing around, in and out of drainage structures, that one encounters in highway construction.
Biggest wear spot encountered in the course of highway work is the inside of the leg seam where the pant leg covers the boot; as of yet I haven't been able to wear a hole in the pants.
The heavy stitching of the numerous pockets has also stood up to the rigors of equipment/tools being stored and removed from them.
Their heavier weight in summer has caused issues with them being too warm; but the trade off of not blowing holes in your work gear makes up for that.
The one down side that I have encountered is that the fire-hose material doesn't resist asphalt bitumen that we use for tack (that black/brown liquid one sees on the road before the new asphalt is placed.); but then again that material sticks to and stains everything.

I've been wearing these for a few months now, and I couldn't be happier.

The first pair I got had a couple of flaws, mainly seams that should be triple-stitched and were not. Since I got that pair, the design has been changed, and the problem is no longer present.

The material itself is somewhat deceptive. It's soft, supple, and lightweight, but it still manages to be very tough.

As a theatre sound technician, I am constantly on the lookout for work clothes that are well built with useful features and are comfortable enough to wear for 12 hours at a time either standing, sitting, running, climbing, or whatever. These pants are so good, I never want to go back to my Carhartts. Pockets in the right places, and they fit all my bizarre sound tools. Plus the come in black, the only color for a theatre tech, and they look sharp enough that I can wear them "front-of-house", out where the audience is, and not look like a mess. Great work, Duluth!

I now have four pairs of these rascals; that says a lot about how well I like them. They look good, they have plenty of space to stuff tools and parts while working on jobs on land or on the water, and they feel good, too. I think the sizing runs a little on the "relaxed" side, which is OK. Overall, if the pricing were a little lower, these pants might well replace more of my jeans. BTW, DT, how about a denim color?

Comfortable, soft and supple yet tough as nails! I was thinking that I would be able to get a free pair somewhere along the line, but after wearing them for a while the only way I'll get another pair is to buy them myself. I live and work in the outdoors year round, I hike in them and spend a lot of time kneeling on the ground & working with bush craft + fires. Their comfortable and durable in the field & after a wash and hang dry, I slip them on for around yard and town. I call them the "all-time" pants. I love all the pockets and the reinforced fly! If they ever wear out I'll get another pair asap. I'm lucky to have the wool lined ones for winter, too.

My new favorite fall through spring weather pants.

The pockets keep stuff in (like on my motorcycle where there is wind and shaking), and there are multiple sockets, so if you use pockets instead of a tool belt, you can keep everything sorted. And there are enough sizes for everything.

Also the pockets are of heavy material so the metal tools won't shred the inside or outside.

Comfortable, strongly built, even the loops are wide and strong. Absolutely nothing cheap.

After wearing jeans almost all of my adult life, I have grown accustomed to almost horizontal front pockets and being able to hang tape measure, key rings, folding knives, and such. The almost vertical front pockets are not amendable to such use. Had to move a lot of my normal carry to the cargo pockets. On the plus side, the cargo pockets work great.

I am a pipefitter and welder and nothing I wear holds up. I get about a year of use out of each pair of these pants, which was unheard of before I found Duluth Trading. These are not as cumbersome as wearing leathers and other fire-resistant clothes and have enough pockets to hide all of the levels, tapes, chalk, markers, and other random bits I seem to haul around. I will keep buying these pants and tearing them to shreds (in due time) over and over again.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

After purchasing the Fire Hose Work Pants, I purchased two pairs of levi-style pants made of the same material. I washed them prior to wearing them, and the first time I wore one pair, a hole in the rear pocket appeared. I am a teacher and I wore the pants to school, so I can't see why, or how, they could develop a hole in the pocket.
I am very disappointed in the quality of the pants, at least that pair, and am sending them back for replacement. I will have to pay the packaging and shipping, and I'm not happy about having to do so. I hope, upon receiving the damaged pants, that you attempt to work something out so that I will have pants that don't get holes so easily. I would also like to be compensated, in some way, for the money I have to spend to return them to you. Outside of that particular incident, I'm, overall, happy with the pants.

I been always looking for a great pair of cargo pants to hold things. After much searching i finally found these. Definately get a few!
Only draw back is i find the ankle a little tight for my liking. A little larger boot cut would be awesome!!! if it wasnt for that id give them 5*

The french zipper (a strap and button inside the fly) hasn't fit well on the two pair I own. It is tighter then the waist. The pant leg is also wider then other DT pants so getting the right length very critical or you will be walking on the cuff.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I'm lucky enough to be able to wear whatever I want to work as a real estate management consultant who works with both managers and maintenance staff. Sometimes I inspect multifamily properties, and sometimes I train people.
I find most of DT's clothes to be presentable in either aspect of my work, and I love the feel of tough clothes that only look a little better with some wear on them.
These pants kick butt, plain and simple. They look great for such tough pants with so many useful pockets, and they are versatile, all purpose pants for me.
Cons: I'd rather have subtle nylon tack stitching than the bright rivets, which make these a tad "hip hop" looking. And, unlike the more form fitting famous button fly jeans, they are a little baggy on my skinny legs, but they make up for it in freedom of movement.
Pros: Excellent pocket flaps fit very flatly inside pockets and velcro down when you want. Inside secret pocket good for securing that extra wad of cash when working in the rough 'hoods I frequent. Seams stay straight.

I provide service to the HVAC industry in commerical and industrial aspects. These pants are comfortable in winter and summer here in Virginia. Things that would have destroyed a regular pair of jeans did very little to these pants. The pockets are placed perfectly for the tools I regularly need at hand. It also makes for convenient tool containment when making trips up scuttle ladders to roofs nstead of dragging an entire tool bag or having tools drop out of pockets while climbing the ladder. I will be ordering more.

I wear them doing yard work or on the beach. I've used them in place of jeans for the last couple of years and will buy replacements as the current crop wears out.

Wow so far the best pair of pants I have ever worn, the best quality, the best comfort, and the best style. As soon as I took them out of the package I knew I would like them.
When I ride the motorcycle they don't bunch up in the crotch and they keep my boot tops covered. When I get home I don't have to change for evening meditation they are comfortable even cross-legged on the meditation cushion. After all that if I go out for the evening I still don't have to change these pants look great. So I ordered three more pair. Thank You

Fire Hose Pants on Smoky Mountain trip
By Mike and TimVerified Reviewer from Maryland on 7/16/2009

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

We found these to be tough, durable, but surprisingly light and flexible for that fact. We were in an area full of thorns/briars, but the pants protected us from a world of pain. We climbed mountains, rocks and trees, jumped gaps, dug and chopped our way through everything from tight caves to briar thickets, and did everything that would normally tear pants and shirts. They didn't tear, and bearly looked different than when they were brand new.

This is an excellent pair of pants for climbing and bouldering with one exception; the rear belt loop is too wide for a carabiner to fit through, so if you plan on grabbing a chalk bag, clipping it, and just traversing/bouldering for a bit, you'll be annoyed by it. OTOH, the material is EXTREMELY hard wearing, and will last a good long while.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

My husband loves these pants! He wears them to work in every day. They won't tear and he likes how comfortable they are to wear. The thing that he loves the most about them, is the room that there is in the crouch area for bending and kneeling. All of the other pants I have bought for him, tear in that area and these pants don't. We love them & suggest them to every hard working guy out there.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I am a firefighter in the toughest hellish place on earth. ALASKA. I own about 9 pairs of these pants. I use them on the job and have been through many fires and emergency scenes with them. They have by far held up the longest. No other pant can last me more than 6 months. I use these pants for hunting and hiking and working and riding. Nothing breathes easier than these pants short of not having any pants on. One thing that I would recommend for longevity is hang dry. These pants will eventually fade in the wash, just dye them back to color and they hold it well. I have worked car accidents and other medical emergencies. No problems to speak of. They are warm in the cold winters and cool in the warm summers. Perfect for any Fire or EMS professional. Also, my entire department is wearing these pants. And I do mean the entire department.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I wear mine on an everyday basis even in hot Kentucky weather. They are not light and would not serve everyone as well in hot weather but a version of these in shorts is available as well as cool max. The first morning I had them I walked my beagle through a wet field of unmowed hay. To my surprise my pants were not wet but had beaded up water droplets on them. Not waterproof but definitely water resistant. Plenty of pockets although the cargo pocket needs to have an expansion gusset as it is slightly not cargo pocket like. Makes a tight fit for my Adventure Medical Kits light and fast first aid kit. The other pockets are great.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I have been a Boy Scout Leader for the past 13 years and these are the toughest pants you could have on a camping trip, and better looking than any pants sold for standing in front of a formation of Scouts. The Loden color is identical to BSA Green and Fire Hose Work Pants only cost a few bucks more but they have a ton more pockets, don't wear-out or get ripped up like the other Boy Scout Pants -- so they save you money in the long run. In fact the Boy Scouts of America should adopt these as the "Official Pants" and we would all be better off. My oldest son, who is also an Eagle Scout, is a welder in the ship building industry and has worn-out and/or burnt through multiple pairs of normal work pants while his original pair of Fire Hose Work Pants are still standing tall and wearing strong while he builds U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. So these pants are Good Looking, Ship Building Tough and Boy Scout Trustworthy – why wouldn't you own at least one pair!!!

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I wear the pants to work and play. They're good for a casual work environment, doing carpentry or or out in a field somewhere. They're a durable heavy, but don't make you uncomfortable heat wise. These are by far, in my 50 year history, including diapers, the best I've ever owned. From the moment I took them out of the box I said, "Whoa!" They reak with craftmanship... from the hip to the foot. The pants have more pockets than a pool hall, any more and you'd need a map. I've never reviewed anything and have no qualms about recommending these to anyone. 'twere me da alive he'd have a new pair of knickers cut from these pants. The best in durable goods I've ever worn... and will keep wearing. The Duluth Trading Company has bought me. You can tell that you're dealing with good people.

I bought these pants for use for projects around the house, but I have also found that they look good enough for me to wear when I have potentially dirty work to do at work also, such as working on and under industrial machinery. I've only worn them a handful of times, but I have found them to be very comfortable and durable. They clean up well, and I appreciate all of the pockets to carry tools, phone, etc. I also plan on using these pants when I go trail riding on my on/off road motorcycle. I'm looking forward to testing the "wear 'em out" guarantee. I'll probably be buying another pair in the near future, maybe the lighter material for hot weather use.

Super tough pants. I haven't found anything to stain them yet and the only wear they are showing from daily wear are the bottom of the cuffs and that's only because I wear them long. Packed these for a trip to Colorado and they came out of the suitcase ready for casual wear. I wear them for work. I am a maintenance worker and love all the pockets. I carry my tools and various supplies and it saves a lot of running on my part to go get something I need for the job but that I forgot to bring. Will order another pair in another color for sure!

These pants are well made and incredibly tough when it comes to wear and tear resistance. The extra wide inseam gusset helps when you are doing anything close to the ground. The multitude of pockets is a plus aswell. The only thing I could say negative about them is that they are heavy weight and not suited to hot summer work.

Comments about Duluth Trading Men's Fire Hose Work Pants:

I wore these pants on a cross-country motorcycle trip from Wisconsin to Idaho and back. The pants held up very well and remained comfortable in all weather types (100F+ in Utah to snow in the Rockies) I encountered on the road. I appreciated all the large pockets on the pant legs for stowing wallets and even my GPS when leaving the motorcycle.

There are very few rivets, none of which are in locations that will scratch your gas tank, seat, or side plastics on your bike.

Overall an excellent pant for not just outdoor work, but adventuring as well!

Wow, what a great pair of pants. I always wear cargo pants at my job - an emergency Public Information Officer - in case I get deployed for an emergency. I will eventually own a closet full of these. Durable, comfortable, good looking right out of the drier. Plenty of pockets for digital cameras, note pads, pens and pencils and a tube of sunscreen for standing in the hot Florida sun. Couldn't be any better....

They are awesome. The best pant I have ever owned for work and for casual use. I don't wear my Levi's jeans anymore.
I use the Navy pants for work since I work around machines and it seems like I am always getting a little grease on me; they hide dirt and fluid/oil stains.
If there were 10 stars that is how I would rate them.

I use these for everyday use at home and in the office/lab at work. The main front pockets are about 8" deep from the bottom of the reinforced slash opening. This generous depth was a key factor for my purchasing. The use of fire hose in the pocket lining is also a smart feature. I would like to see more color options (black, dark brown, steel blue, and gray for sure). Also some synthetic fiber options that would improve the wet weather peformance could make them a better hiking/backbacking pant. As an interesting note, the weave on these is not quite as tight as the heavier-weight 5-pocket fire hose jeans, which are also a great product that I recommend. I've spent lots of time looking for the best pair of pants available and these win, especially if they hold up as well as they say.

I thought about buying these pants for a year before I finally decided to try a pair. I knew my regular jeans would not last for this fencing project I have to do. I've been tearing out old barbed wire and clearing brush, brambles, and thorn trees for the last month. Only when I wear these Fire Hose Pants do I not come home with rips and tears and scratches. I guess I need to buy another pair. Thanks for making a great product that lives up to what you say it does. Oh, and by the way, they're not even hot to wear in warm weather.
Thanks,
Doug De Haan

I am an EMT and use these Fire Hose Work Pants as my duty and dress uniforms. I've worn these pants for many months now and they have been completely satisfactory. Even when I am on an accident scene with dangerous contaminants or blood, they have provided adequate protection and then cleaned up perfectly. They have also been perfect for working around the house, going on hikes and just about anything else I do.

The only thing I do not like about them is that I only have two pairs; I'll have to rectify that as soon as possible.

I liked them so much we now order them for all our employee uniforms. She says they wash up nicely.

I bought these pants because I needed a tough pair of cargo type pants. I found these pants to be so comfortable that I wear them around the house as much as out hiking, camping, geocaching, and traveling. They have a great number of pockets, the flaps for which can be tucked inside the pockets if desired. My only issue with these pants is that the hip pockets are deep and seem to pull contents to the front more, so my car keys tend to be uncomfortable where they end up sitting. Overall I am very happy with these pants and I imagine they will last for a long, long time.
